IVF ultrasound scan Perth
Clear answers from day one, with ultrasound at the heart of your treatment.
Why ultrasound is the foundation of your fertility care at MiFertility
At MiFertility, ultrasound is not just part of the process; it’s the starting point. Dr Bhanu Deval believes that fertility care should be built on real-time insight. That’s why ultrasound is a central part of your assessment and treatment right from your very first visit.
During your initial one-hour consultation, Dr Bhanu Deval personally performs a comprehensive pelvic ultrasound scan, using high-resolution 2D and 3D imaging with Doppler studies. This allows him to investigate fertility concerns firsthand and make informed decisions without waiting for external referrals or reports.
Ultrasound is an indispensable part of how I understand fertility issues and tailor each patient’s care. It’s such an important part of my work that when I first moved to Perth, before I even had a single patient, I made it a priority to invest in a high-quality scan machine.
What makes our approach different?
At MiFertility, your ultrasound is done by the same specialist who is guiding your fertility journey: Dr Deval himself.
This means you benefit from:
- A comprehensive scan at your very first appointment
- Immediate interpretation of what’s seen
- No delays waiting for external reports
- A truly personalised treatment plan built on direct findings
This continuity is especially important when dealing with complex fertility issues like low ovarian reserve, endometriosis, fibroids, or PCOS, where timely, accurate imaging can make all the difference in how treatment is planned.
What your pelvic ultrasound includes
At MiFertility, we use a high-quality ultrasound system that allows multiple views and techniques in one scan, all performed during your consultation. This means we can assess a range of fertility factors in real time without needing separate appointments or additional referrals.
2D transvaginal imaging
This gives a clear view of your uterus, ovaries, and pelvic structures, helping assess:
- The number of follicles in your ovaries (Antral Follicle Count)
- The thickness of your endometrial lining
- The presence of cysts, fibroids, or polyps
It’s a simple and well-tolerated procedure that typically takes just a few minutes.
3D ultrasound
This adds a detailed, layered image of your uterus, allowing us to better evaluate:
- Fibroids and how far they extend into the uterine cavity
- Congenital abnormalities in uterine shape
- Adenomyosis (a form of endometriosis within the uterine muscle)
This level of detail is often essential in planning for IVF or deciding if surgical treatment is needed.
Doppler (blood flow) studies
Doppler imaging shows the blood flow to your uterus and ovaries. This can help us understand:
- Ovarian function and follicle development
- Uterine receptivity (how ready the lining is for implantation)
- Whether there are any signs of restricted or abnormal blood flow
What we’re looking for during your scan
Every scan is different. But some of the key things we assess include:
- Lining of uterus – triple layer appearance
- 3D of triple layer appearance
- 3D scan of normal uterine cavity
- Endometrial polyp
- 3D scan of endometrial polyp
- Fibroid affecting cavity of uterus
- 3D of fibroid affecting cavity of uterus
- Ovarian reserve assessment: Antral follicle count
- Polycystic appearance of ovary
- Endometriotic ovarian cyst
- Endometriotic ovarian cyst with adjacent swollen fallopian tube
- Adenomyosis: Endometriosis within muscle of uterus
- 3D scan of Adenomyosis with comparative normal 3D scan of uterine cavity
Because Dr Deval performs the scan himself, he can assess how each of these factors may be affecting your ability to conceive and guide you through your options straight away.

Why does it matter who performs your scan?
When your scan is performed by the same person who’s also your fertility specialist, it brings everything together in a more connected and personalised way. They can interpret the findings firsthand and correlate them with your unique circumstances, giving you answers that help guide the most appropriate next steps in your fertility care.
It also makes better use of your time by reducing the need for multiple appointments, giving you a more streamlined and reassuring experience.
Not just for fertility
Dr Deval also uses this ultrasound-based approach in his broader gynaecological practice at St John of God Midland Hospital. Many of the same tools are used to investigate:
- Pelvic pain
- Heavy or irregular periods
- Suspected endometriosis
- Uterine or ovarian abnormalities
Whether it’s for fertility or gynaecological care, his goal is always the same: to make accurate, timely assessments that lead to targeted, effective treatment.
